DTA Voyageur II

The World's Toughest trike

I first became intrigued with the DTA Voyageur II in 1999 while following the South to South Expedition flown by Mike Blyth and Olivier Aubert.  I had never seen a more rugged looking trike and after doing a bit of research and learning that Olivier has over 2,000 hours on his and it still looks like new, I decided I had to have one.  It has proven to be every bit as rugged as I had imagined.  I have had the opportunity to fly many trikes, and there is no other trike made that has the solid feel of a Voyageur.  The solidly constructed mast that doesn't even require a compression strut offers a view that is unparalleled in the trike industry.

A local trike pilot, Tal Newhart, expressed a desire to fly it and write a report on his findings.  That report can be found here.  Then in the late summer of 2005, one of the members of the social bar trike list was of the opinion that no trike could sustain a level 60 deg AOB turn.  Although there are probably other trikes that could do the maneuver, the DTA was the trike that was fitted with cameras to prove that a trike with the performance of a Voyageur could, in fact, easily perform level turns in excess of 60 deg AOB. Again, Tal brought the equipment to film the proof.
